We’ve received some great renderings from WDM Architects, who we have partnered with to help us bring this dream to a reality. You can look at the bottom of this page and you’ll be able to see them in a smaller copy of our window poster. We will be rolling out some more posts and updates on our Facebook page about these renderings so be sure the check there over the upcoming weeks.

Now that Phase One is complete, we are ready to move into Phase Two of the Blair East Expansion! In order to move forward with this phase, we are looking to raise an additional $15,000 outside of our normal operating budget to get there. The Blair Theater

In the year 2000, the Blair Center for the Arts Foundation was formed and began the process of renovating the theater. Over the next 8 years, lots of work was done, and through the help and the support of our local community, the theater opened again to the public for the first time in over 12 years. Like many similar organizations around the country, COVID-19 has had a negative effect on our mission but we’re still moving forward with trying to build a facility to provide quality entertainment as well as a community gathering place for the residents of Belleville, Republic County, and the greater North Central Kansas region. Below you can see a list of things that we are looking to do as well as an estimated cost for each item. If you’re able to help in any way, please feel free to contact us and let us know.

    1. Structural Evaluation – Unknown Cost
    2. Theater Rigging System – $55k – $100k
    3. Theater Soft Goods Package – $10k
    4. Building Electrical Upgrade – Currently an unknown cost
      • Up to 800 amps of additional power are needed for the theater.
    5. Theater Lighting System* – $150k-$230k
      • This equipment can be bought in phases.
    6. Theater Sound System* – $150k-$200k
      • This equipment can be bought in phases
    7. Theater Video System* – $20k
      • This equipment can be bought in phases.
    8. Engineered Theater Staging* – $25-$100k
      • This equipment can be bought in phases.

*Equipment marked with an asterisk is able to travel around the county and be used for events outside of the Blair.

With your help, by upgrading the facilities here at the Blair, we’ll be able to better support live events and can increase the entertainment we’re able to offer. This will result in an increase in the number of visitors that we can help bring to the area who will possibly shop at nearby retailers before or after a play, eat dinner at nearby restaurants before an evening dance recital, or get a room for the night and avoid driving home to Seneca, Phillipsburg, Geneva, or Fairbury after a concert or a late-night comedy show.
